Monday Morning Quarterback

Writer's picture: Mark RoseMark Rose

i’m not the only preacher-pastor-leader-blogger out there that does an evaluation of the previous sunday.  i read a few of them every week.  they use the words awesome…incredible…unbelievable…amazing…a lot.  their churches are large, successful, influential, and well-known in church circles.

i read their blogs to learn stuff.  to broaden my vision.  to see things from a different perspective.  to be challenged.

i don’t read their blogs to compare.  because nothing really compares to north point.

this morning, while other preacher-pastor-leader-bloggers are busy writing about their church’s epic exploits from yesterday…i will tell you why i wouldn’t trade my sundays at north point with anybody.

we don’t try to be something we’re not.  we’re just a bunch of regular people.  and when you’re just normal, everyday folks, you can be honest…broken…dysfunctional…crazy…simple…unimpressive…needy… afraid…open…direct…forgiving…and still laugh about it!  and still believe that god is bigger and badder and greater and more majestic than any part of the journey we travel.

and the sunday big show?  well it can be awesomely fantasticaliciously epic…or just another sunday.  it doesn’t matter.  because it’s really not about us, anyway!

for the record, we had a great day yesterday.
