Words and action

Writer's picture: Mark RoseMark Rose

while i was in colorado,  i spent the entire week talking.   i realize i’m an unusual guy when it comes to that…

i have a friend of mine…a preacher…whose vocal chords were the tools of his trade. years ago,  he had surgery to repair some damage to those chords and came out of it worse than he went in.   now he can barely speak.   no doubt that god has still used him in incredible ways,  but his journey has been a difficult one.

i was thinking this morning about words.   if i lost my ability to use my words,  would my life continue speaking?   would there be enough evidence of faith in my life to make up for my loss of explanation?

would simply the way i live be enough to lead people to christ or point them to a life of faithfulness?

this may sound a little strange coming from one whose days are filled with words ,  but i think that words may be severely overrated.

all of our preaching and teaching and counseling and commentary may be important at certain times and in certain places,  but the way we live is important all the time…in every situation…no matter what.

are you living your faith today?   do the people you live with see hypocrisy or integrity?   do your actions speak louder than your words?

maybe it’s time to put up.
