a very good week…
definitely rode the chargers win over the cowboys for a few days.
dallas sports-talk radio was particularly entertaining…i listened way too much!
i got to talk with six different couples this past week about their marriages. i can’t think of a better way to spend my time than to work with couples to build strong and lasting marriages.
what are you doing this week to strengthen yours?
i love the cold weather.
the advent conspiracy is really allowing us to help and serve a lot of people this christmas. i don’t know about you, but it’s making this the best christmas ever for me.
we’ve been doing a bible study at my house for young adults on thursday nights for the past year. it’s been a good use of our time. we’re taking a break until after the first of the year.
i got to give some baseball instruction to a young man in our church family this past week. i haven’t done that in years. definitely brought back some good memories of being a dad to my boys.
i am five days into writing about the fifteen changes i’m going to focus on in 2010. i have a lot more than fifteen. looking forward to the rest of the week to see which ones i decide i’m going to let you in on.
i went to a unt graduation ceremony this past saturday. it was good to see old friends and be reminded of good days in my past.
on our way home, wanda and i stopped at one of our favorite sandwich shops, the new york sub hub, in corinth. it is the home of what could be the best sandwich in the world…a hot turkey pastrami reuben on french bread, with grilled sauerkraut, melted provalone and thousand island. un-be-lievable!
got to sit with the owner and watch some of the cowboys game. he and another guy in the place were yelling as loud as anybody in the louisiana superdome. pretty fun.
so glad the cowboys won. my dream of another season with wade is about to come true…
this is a real problem: i don’t ever sleep very well on saturday nights. my mind will not slow down. i gotta figure this out. i really need the sleep!
this was an awesome sunday.
thanks to dale and angie toon for organizing and providing the donuts and pastries in-between the services. always a nice thing!
the band rocked. every song.
glory in the highest was really powerful when we all stood to sing near the end of it. it was like a choir.
when we sing “…there are so few words that never grow old…”, i am always moved in my memory to my childhood of growing up singing hymns.
i was convicted by my own sermon this morning. i have always wrestled with unanswered questions. it’s good to know that i walk on the same ground as the saints of old. i’m grateful for the stories of thomas.
i had a guy tell me how much my sermon meant to him. made it all worth it.
i’m convinced that people would not have left the building today until after 1:00, if i wouldn’t have forced the issue.
good to see some old members coming back for a visit today.
another good chargers day. 52-yard field goal with three seconds to go. doesn’t get much better than that.
can’t wait to hear the local sports talking heads dissect the cowboys this week. go wade!
hope to see some of you at one of our christmas eve services…7 or 9. invite a friend. have a great week!
