The week in review…

Writer's picture: Mark RoseMark Rose

this was definitely one good week!

  1. i’m not quite comfortable, yet, with all the important college football bowl games being played after new years day…it just doesn’t seem right.

  2. i was really pulling for tcu, but boise state is amazing.  big game.   big time.   amazing risk takers.   i hope they make it to the championship game next year, because they will win it.

  3. i loved the cold weather this past week.   its one of the best parts of living here.

  4. glad i had the top on my jeep.

  5. years ago, i was taught that a meeting over a drink at taco bell was just as sacred as a meeting in an office…maybe more.   lots of iced teas this past week!

  6. full house sunday totally dominated my thinking and preparation.   i have felt all along that this could be one of the most important days in north point’s history.   i worked and planned this week as if that was going to be true.

  7. we are almost finished with the advent conspiracy.   i can’t wait to see what our final total is going to be.   we are currently over $14,000 raised.   more on this later in the week.

  8. we made the decision to blend part of our men’s mexico mission trip with the one the kids are going to do during spring break.   i’m already starting to get pumped…

  9. bcs championship game was difficult to watch after colt mccoy got hurt.   we had a houseful of people and all we really did was sit around and talk for most of the game.

  10. building our biggest loser teams…madres are up to 13 women…padres only have eight guys.   men…step up!

  11. props to all my cowboy fan friends!   the little wadesters could be the hottest team in pro football.   i predict a cowboy vs. cardinals nfc championship game.

  12. i will not predict the afc.

  13. had to prepare two sermons this past week.   one for the 10:00 service and a different one for 11:15.   this is never fun.   my mind feels like mush today.

  14. it has been amazing calling and texting people all week to remind them of full house sunday.   great conversations.  great stories.   sweet connections.

  15. found out this week that “north point christian church” comes up as the number one result (out of 23,100,000 results) on a google search.  wow.   try it.

  16. new bible reading plan is up and running.

  17. i’m looking for an inversion table…those things that you hang upside-down from.   some people who use them are recommending that i try one.   any leads?

  18. our winter bowling league starts this tuesday.   i am determined to avoid the cellar this season.

  19. i’ve had two friends of mine die recently.   they lived good lives.   our mortality is always around us.   we need to live each day with more purpose and more conviction.

  20. “full house sunday” was amazing!  everything i had hoped for…and more.

  21. very encouraging to see so many people show up for the 10:00 service, knowing that was the only service with a sermon.

  22. on the other hand…the second hour was packed.   how should i interpret that?

  23. it was such a cool thing to see people standing all over the building.   pretty sure if the fire marshall would have shown up, we would have been shut down.

  24. when i asked the people who were new to north point in the past three years and nearly half of the crowd raised their hands, you should have seen people’s faces!

  25. with two services the way we have them, until today, people really had no idea that north point was this big.

  26. the band was awesome!   great song selections.

  27. with that many people, the band could have really been louder…a lot louder.  who would have ever thought that day would ever come?

  28. some communion trays ran out of bread.  oops.

  29. i forgot to explain that we were using new offering baskets.   double oops.   oh well…they apparently work just as well as empty communion cup trash cans.

  30. lots of people at lunch together…i mean lots.   we had 41 people at alfredo’s.   and we all got yelled at.

lots of momentum.   don’t look back.
