big week, people!
i think i rode the wave of an amazing sunday for the first half of the week. having that many people in the room at the same time was awesome…
i’m going to write about it later sometime, but last sunday was one of a handful of defining moments in my life.
i came out of my house monday morning to see a tiny stream of water shooting out of the pipe just behind my front yard water spigot…right where the pipe went into the front of my house.
while i was staring at it, it exploded! water shooting everywhere. two days later, the decorative stone on my house was torn out, a new piece of pipe was soldered on, a new water spigot was installed, a new water valve in my water main was installed (by the city), a big hole in my front yard was dug…and still couldn’t find my water main pipe…and i got my water up and running again! tim the tool man would have been duly impressed…
i had lunch with an old bible college student of mine on monday…it was great to see his growth and maturity…and difficult to hear of some of the pain and difficulty he has gone through in the past few years of his ministry life.
it makes me appreciate north point all the more…
i got to lead the fellowship of christian athletes weekly bible study at lewisville high school on monday night. i had a great time and it was a really good group of young people…more than they have had in a few years. they were really attentive and super friendly. i would go back and do that anytime!
took my first shower in over 72 hours right before bowling on tuesday night. that was a really good shower!
we had a great start to our winter bowling league…seven teams – 28 regulars and about 10 subs. i love tuesday night bowling!
wednesday was a good study day for me. preparations for beginning our study through the book of ephesians are super important…deep letter…lots of doctrine. i’m pretty excited about this study.
started “the padre’s biggest loser” on wednesday. i am very pumped about doing this together. i think we’re going to see lots of results…lots of weight loss.
wanda and i are doing a modified abs diet plan. i really like it. lots of good food. logical plan.
a normal week for me is lots of meetings with people. this was certainly a normal week for me. good contacts…good conversation.
can’t believe i’m going to be leading a mexico mission trip again! it’s been a while, but i think it will all come flooding back. the north point men’s trip is going to rock!
we started a brand new bible study on thursday nights for young adults. we are studying through the passages in the bible that speak of the kingdom of god. it’s going to be a great study.
i got to spend time with my youngest son on friday. he just stopped by unexpectedly to hang out. i love it when my boys do that. i will always be a dad…
had our first mexico work day on saturday. did some big-time clean up. lots of thanks to the guys that helped.
we had a really good sunday this week. great spirit in the building. good start to our ephesians series.
i was totally convicted in my personal study through verses 3-6 in the first chapter…and i was really encouraged by the response. it was awesome.
loved the new song. buzzy should play his strat more often. good sound.
great new song. we will be singing his grace is enough throughout the whole series. i don’t think i’m going to get tired of it!
bad day for the chargers and the cowboys.
my take on the chargers? they played not to lose, instead of playing to win. play calling was way to conservative. they are the best passing team in the league and they ran the ball up the middle too much. didn’t make sense to me. stupid, stupid penalties. they got intimidated by the jets defense. too little, too late.
they’ll be back, though. can’t wait for next year. i think they will be a lot better. so will the jets, though…
i’ve always been a mark sanchez fan. he was awesome today! hope they beat the colts.
not sure i have a take on the cowboys. anxious to see how the wade-garrett-jerruh drama plays out this week. they have a great team. they better figure this out.
i’m over the loss. the new season of 24 came at just the right time!
have a great week. eat well. take care of your body. study the word. be dilligent in all things.
