2010 is rolling on, isn’t it? hard to believe we have just completed the first week of february…
no question that the new farra eating plan is front and center at the beginning of each new week.
it is kind of cool knowing that i’ve stayed consistent in my eating for the past three weeks…going on four.
more energy. better focus. definitely a better attitude.
my back is finally reaching normal again.
i’m going to the doctor this week to see what the problem is, though. there’s something lingering that it totally different from any back pain that i have ever experienced.
new workout begins this week. to say i’m pumped about it would be an overstatement. but i am resolved.
my body is clearly feeling older. everything aches. almost all the time. building muscle is not going to be as much fun as it used to be. wait…it was never much fun, come to think of it.
i’m still pretty blown away by the number of people who have joined the padre’s biggest loser!
it was way more fun bowling this week. i could actually bend over and pick up my ball without looking like a guy who needed surgery.
one of my fifteen goals for 2010 is to raise my bowling average. so far this season, my average is a 148. not bad for an old guy with back problems. i’m going to raise it this week. just watch.
i really enjoy our thursday night dinner and bible study. you should really try to start one. pick some people and invite them over…plan dinner…and look at a passage of scripture with each other. it’s really that simple.
got to spend a whole evening with holden this week…his parents, too. we ate and talked and laughed and watched holden make faces and communicate from his heart.
speaking of kids, we have a ton of them around north point these days.
one of the kids, when he was asked what church he goes to responded, “nerf point christmas church”. beyond greatness. kamryon’s my new hero. nerf point. i’m feeling it…
i love watching our growth as a family.
the eating plan that wanda and i are following has an awesome component to it: once a week we are allowed to eat a meal of our favorite foods…paying no attention to fats or calories or health or anything. physically, the idea is that when we are paying careful attention proper eating, there is great value in “jumpstarting” weight loss cycle by putting some of those fats and carbs and sugars back into your system. honest…it makes sense when you read the book.
so being the rule followers we are, we forced ourselves to go out and eat some italian food on friday night. corey joined us and he and i split a some pizza and a plate of buffalo wings…and wanda had some baked ziti. awesome!
the best news is that we both went right back to our eating plan on saturday and stuck right to it. this was a pretty cool breakthrough.
great mexico work day on saturday morning. we must have had 25 people show up. lots of jobs got completed.
i am really starting to look forward to our trips.
we are up to 12 men going on the men’s trip. can’t wait.
great sunday morning. nerf point is definitely the place to be.
we have been packed in the 11:15 service three weeks in a row. there’s room in the 10:00 service, if you’re open to a change.
we broke out the old songs this morning. they sounded great. man, was it great to have scott back on guitar this week.
although the majority of people don’t believe me, i will say it again. i was totally surprised by being recognized for the past 15 years at np. honest, i had no idea.
we were blown away by words and gifts and the realization that we are part of a family that cares so deeply about us. i’m going to write more about this at the np community blog tomorrow. make sure you check it out.
it was packed at the superbowl party. great food and lots of it. great conversations and connections. and an incredible football game.
an all-around awesome day.
make sure you pray that god will open the eyes of your hearts this week. pray for wisdom and revelation of truth. you’ll not be the same. have a great week.
