the whirlwind, destination wedding of my youngest and my newest family member is almost over. can’t believe it’s been five days since i’ve checked in, but fun is a lot of work and pretty time consuming.
here’s a recap of the week:
an event-less flight to california, although wanda thought it was bumpy. whiner.
welcome to the heat wave in so cal. 83 degrees in huntington beach! it was that warm all week. except right on the beach. and after 6:00 in the evening. and in the morning. pretty much at about noon.
appreciated your prayers for our suffering.
did a lot of driving.
spent monday with our boys and their women and some of our friends from california. in ‘n out for dinner.
had a coke with some of our oldest and best friends from back in the day on tuesday morning. they drove about five hours to have that coke. haven’t had a coke taste that good in a long time.
picked up our friends who came in from texas to join us for the wedding. did some orange county sightseeing with them in the afternoon. showed them the church building where i worked in the 80’s, our old huntington homestead, a little beach action, a trip to the big glass church, and a drive by anaheim stadium.
more sightseeing, a rehearsal at the beach and a rehearsal dinner at in ‘n out. even had a farra and friends bachelor party for the little boy.
wednesday wedding day. apple fritters at adams street donuts. a day at the beach…except for papi and holden…we laid around and watched sportscenter. wedding on wednesday at laguna beach at sunset. pretty cool. dinner in newport. it was a good day.
thursday trip to san diego. sightseeing, more mexican food than anybody should eat in a day, and a car full of laughter. even met up with the newlyweds at petco for an 8-3 win over the mets by our beloved padres. thursday rivaled wednesday on the personal joy measuring stick. it was a long, but awesome, 15-hour day.
it’s friday morning. we’re packing and getting ready to go home. it’s time to be home. can’t wait for 100 degree temps. really. in a strange way. to all of our texas family…can’t wait to be sharing life again!
