thinking about these verses this afternoon:
Then he said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Matthew 22:21For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Matthew 6:24Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have. Hebrews 13:5
i know of no other way to be obedient to these passages than to develop the discipline of giving away increasing percentages of the money and riches i have. without that discipline, i would run the risk of considering that money my own and i would most certainly be controlled by it…more than i am.
for me, it’s as simple as that.
