Monday Morning Quarterback!

Writer's picture: Mark RoseMark Rose

here’s some thoughts about yesterday.  it’s monday evening.  so sue me…

  1. i gotta admit that the week of thanksgiving and the sunday that follows is normally a low point in my yearly ministry life.  it seems like all of the momentum we build during the fall months comes to a screeching halt during this week.  but not this year.  not this past sunday.

  2. in spite of so many of our families out of town, the building was full in the second hour and we had more than our average in the first hour.  attendance was awesome!

  3. the band rocked.

  4. the new arrangement of “o for a 1000 tongues” is amazing.  the new chorus is powerful.

  5. i’m looking forward to new christmas songs this season.  can’t wait til next sunday to sing the first one.

  6. our offering exceeded every expectation!  you guys are incredible.

  7. i was really convicted in my study this past week on the topic of gratitude.  this whole concept of giving thanks in every circumstance should (and can) be life changing for all of us.  i was as fired up to preach this sermon as i have ever been.

  8. for those of you that have been here for a few years, you know that my all-time favorite sunday morning north point moment involved a basset hound.  i’ll tell the story tomorrow.  but it is still #1.

  9. there is a new #2, though.

  10. when ralph stood up in the middle of my sermon, turned his back and faced everyone, slowly put on his cowboy’s coat…one arm at a time…picked up his stuff, said goodbye to john, and paraded out the back of the building…i almost lost it!

  11. watching all of you completely ignore my preaching, in favor of the show ralph was putting on, was priceless.  some of you tried not to look, but you did.  some of you never made it back to the sermon!  i love north point…

  12. props to howard and lori for hearing my “stay with me…” comment.

  13. i know i’ve said this before…and will probably say it again…but i love watching what happens before and after the services.  that’s church!

  14. thanks to everyone who helped put up the christmas decorations.  the building looked great.

  15. are you as excited about this coming sunday as i am?

  16. are you praying this week that our building will be full of new people that we meet at holiday at the hall?
