Imagine

Writer's picture: Mark RoseMark Rose

i know this is going to sound like a bizarre thought,  but it’s where my heart is this morning…

could just looking at something and admiring it ever be an adequate substitute for owning it?

can we ever learn to just savor a moment?   can i just take in a short experience and have it be just as satisfying…maybe even more…as buying it?

no matter how much we try to train ourselves and exercise restraint over our passions and desires,  we are still controlled by wanting stuff.

more stuff.   better stuff.   bigger stuff.   nicer stuff.

you know how awesome it is to go for a walk and take in the majesty of a sunset full of color?   or soak in the beauty of a mountain stream…or even the joy on the face of a little child?   …and how that moment brings such incredible satisfaction for an instant?

and we don’t have to own it?

wouldn’t it be amazing to have the contentment of heart to be able to just look at a new car or a new article of furniture or the latest piece of electronic equipment and simply delight in it’s existence…

instead of living in a perpetual state of discontent until we possess it?
