i think i may have missed my life calling.
apparently, there are people willing to pay big bucks to have someone help them stop making stupid decisions. where was this job when i was younger?
the official title is a life coach. the other day, i got an invitation to schedule my complimentary information session to see if i could qualify for fully accredited training by the ICF…the international coaching federation…and receive my certification as a christian life coach.
according to the web site, life coaching is all about helping people get from where they are in their life to where they want to get to. it is a life coach’s job to help people get what they want in life in by breaking down the barriers that people impose on themselves.
for a fee, you can have:
* your own personal life trainer to enable you to achieve your goals * your champion and cheerleader during a turnaround. * your trainer in communication and life skills. * your sounding board when making important choices. * your motivation when strong actions are called for. * your unconditional support when you take a hit. * your companion in personal self development. * your co-designer when creating an extraordinary project. * your beacon and friend during stormy times. * your wake-up call if you don’t hear your own. * your partner in helping you have all of what matters most to you.
wow. i’m going to use a little discretion here…what little i possess… in case i have some friends out there that actually are life coaches.
is there really a market out there for this job? if there is, it seems like such a sad commentary on the church. could it be that if we would just start being better friends with each other, we wouldn’t have to pay for that service?
on the other hand, i’m running a special this week. for an introductory price of only $49.95, i’ll meet you at taco bueno and give you a serious wake-up call. i’ll even smack you upside your head for additional $5.99.
…and maybe you can call me your beacon. maybe.
